Signal Explorer

A radio simulator you can watch and hear. Pick a mode and it builds the signal from the theory up, showing the audio going in, I and Q against time, the constellation, the spectrum and a waterfall, all drawn from the same samples so every view is the same instant.

Sliders for tuning error, noise, gain and fading. Turn the sound on and you can hear both the audio going in and what comes back out of the receiver, which makes the effect of noise, mistuning and overmodulation audible rather than only visible.

It covers the analogue modes (AM, FM, SSB in both sidebands, double sideband suppressed carrier) and the digital ones (CW, RTTY, FT8, BPSK through 8PSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM). Every panel of Figures 4, 5 and 6 in Seeing signals: I and Q from first principles, in the September 2026 issue of RadCom, is there under its own number, and each has its own link.

Each mode shows where its numbers came from: the sample rate, tuning and filtering of the flowgraph that made the matching capture, or, where a value is a published standard rather than a measured one, it says so.
